Message from Mr Dominique Jordan, FIP President, to be read out

Dear Colleagues in Iran

The International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) extends its warmest regards to all pharmaceutical scientists in Iran on the occasion of the 16th Iranian Pharmaceutical Sciences Congress

FIP is the global organisation gathering 151 national associations and representing four million pharmaceutical scientists, pharmacists and pharmacy educators around the world. We are proud that the Iranian Association of Pharmaceutical Sciences has been a member of FIP for a decade. Through your membership of this association, you can be part of the FIP family and have a firm stake in global health issues

FIP is unique because it combines Science, education and practice under one roof. One without the other is nothing. Practice cannot exist without science or education. We need all three to ensure universal health coverage.

FIP’s vision is a world where everyone benefits from access to safe, effective, quality and affordable medicines and pharmaceutical care. We believe that everyone ― including the Iranian people ― has a right to access to essential medicines as part of the right to treatment and health. I know that Iran has not had an easy time lately in terms of economic stability and I congratulate you for persevering to overcome the challenges of providing access to medicines for your people.

I live my presidency under the motto: “Trust, solidarity and action”. Trust is the base for a successful collaboration and we will have to collaborate in the future to deliver as soon as possible the results expected by our people.

Solidarity is crucial because we are acting on a global level with huge differences between regions and countries concerning income, education, policies and political issues. It is the role of FIP to think globally and to act locally through our member organisations. The Iranian Association of Pharmaceutical Sciences is an active member of FIP. Professor Omid Sabzevari represents the association on FIP’s Board on Pharmaceutical Sciences, and the association has ensured its presence at other FIP international meeting and events.

I am convinced that FIP will be successful in contributing to develop pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences all over the world for the people and to decrease the gap between the different countries. I look forward to more collaborative work in the future, especially in advancing our profession and delivering our vision as one unified FIP.

I am sure that this meeting at Kermanshah University will be a great source of inspiration for you all and a unique opportunity to exchange best practices, have challenging discussions and stimulate innovations for the benefit of your people.
